Last week I had the pleasure of accepting funding on behalf of our community for a project that is going to make a real difference.

Council submitted a successful application which will see us receive $347,000 under the state government Stronger Country Communities Fund to improve safety through the construction of a pedestrian crossing on Bold Street in Laurieton.
Getting projects like this off the ground is not always straight forward, and can present many challenges that take time and significant effort before a shovel can even hit the ground.
In particular, securing funding for this project requires working closely with all levels of government, and this is yet another example of how we’re working hard on behalf of our community to get things done.
Have your say on council’s draft plan for 2018/19
Over the next month I invite you all to have your say on council’s proposed projects, activities and budget for the 2018/19 financial year.
This is the perfect opportunity to gain an understanding of what we’re looking to deliver over the coming year, and it’s important that everyone has the chance to provide their thoughts, ask questions and get involved.
Key projects proposed include stage 1 development of the Hastings Regional Sports Fields; planning to provide centralised sewerage systems in Comboyne, Long Flat and Telegraph Point; commencement of upgrades to the Port Macquarie Airport terminal, and there’s lots more.
You’ll see council staff out and about over the coming weeks so please stop, say hi and let us know what you think. You have until Sunday, April 22, to give us your input.
You can also jump onto our website at haveyoursay.pmhc.nsw.gov.au/future-planning or drop into any of our offices or libraries to see the plan.
Enjoy your Easter holidays.
