In that time, many homes have been built and continue to be built here.
What this letter is about is the runaround given to our neighbours when they went along to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to complain about the water pipe blockages that have been occurring to the pipes that run behind our fenceline.
One neighbour had to clean out the man hole which was full of rubbish. Another also had to clean another area of pipes that where blocked on his property.
Both of these residents approached council before taking this action. They were both informed by council that it was not their problem. It was the problem of the contractor who built the estate, laying the pipes etc. They were told to take up their problem with the contractor.
As this estate is now probably close to 30 years old, who knows where this contractor is.
Because of these blockages the flow of water during heavy rain is immense as it flows down through our properties.
I have written to the local member (Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams) and am still waiting for a reply.
Is this really the way things go? If so, it means that every estate built will at some time in the future face problems such as this.
