Council staff and mayor Peta Pinson will attend the final pop-up session about Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s draft future planning documents.
The session is at Settlement City on April 17 from 11am to 1pm.
Four sessions have already been held.
The sessions coincide with the public exhibition of a suite of documents including the Draft 2017-2021 Delivery Program (Revised 2018) and Draft 2018-2019 Operational Plan.
The documents outline the council’s proposed actions, activities, projects and budget for the 2018-2019 financial year.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council group manager community place Lucilla Marshall encouraged people to come along to the Settlement City pop-up session.
“This is your chance this year to influence what we are doing in 2018-19,” she said about the community consultation.
Ms Marshall said there had been a good steady flow of 20 to 50 people at each session.
“We wanted to make sure we are accessible and we are here for everybody,” Ms Marshall said in reference to the pop-up sessions.
“People that are interested will go online and have their say but we wanted to make sure we are catching everybody.”
The council staged a pop-up session at the Glasshouse forecourt on April 12.
Resident Jacki Anne Wright said there needed to be much more of a focus on the future.
She said the demographic in Port Macquarie was changing.
Ms Wright is in favour of more footpaths and cycleways.
Resident Alan Forrester believes there should be a limited speed zone around the beaches and stressed the need for area to be family-friendly into the future.
He said the draft plans were more of the same.
Another resident raised issues including the condition of the toilets and showers at Shelly Beach and Lighthouse Beach, the need for a parking tower in Gordon Street and environmental concerns about the Lake Cathie dredging.
People have until April 22 to lodge submissions about the future planning documents.
Formal submissions received to date have covered subjects including roads, footpaths and a Wauchope off-leash dog park.
The documents can be found at haveyoursay.pmhc.nsw.gov.au/future-planning and at council offices and libraries in Port Macquarie, Laurieton and Wauchope.
