The fashion parade is on Saturday, May 19 and proceeds from the event will support the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC).
The Camden Haven Lantern Club has been active in the area for about 20 years, and the group has hosted 40 fashion parades during its operation.
Volunteer Carol Bennett said she joined the club because she wanted to help those who are deaf and blind access the resources they need for support.
Carol’s mother was 70-years-old when she became blind, and she said her mother struggled with the loss of her sight.
However Carol credited the development of technology including audio books and ‘talking watches’ as being instrumental in making day to day tasks that much easier for her mother.
Another volunteer Nancy Sauer has been with the group for about 10 years and said it is rewarding to receive messages from the children who the group has helped.
“It makes such a difference for the parents too, as they witness their child’s educational development,” she said.
“They are so pleased to see what their children can achieve.”
President of the club Glenys Webster said every family is so appreciated of any kind of donation.
The group is open to members who are interested in meeting new people, while helping to raise money for a worthy cause.
During the year the club has picnics, raffles, lunches and other social events.
The parade on May 19 is at JA Fashions on Seymour Street, Laurieton.
The cost of a ticket to attend is $10 which includes afternoon tea after the parade.
Members of the club meet every fourth Wednesday of the month from 1.30pm at the Laurieton United Services Club.
