Port Macquarie and Districts Family History Society will stage the fair at Panthers Port Macquarie on April 21 from 10am to 3pm.
Ancestry content manager Australasia Jason Reeve will talk about Ancestry and DNA.
Lake Cathie author Dr Noeline Kyle will speak about writing your family history.
Port Macquarie Historical Society president and Port Macquarie and Districts Family History Society treasurer Clive Smith will share insights about how museums can help in family history research.
All the talks are free.
Volunteers will be on hand to help people get started with their research or further their research.
Family History Fair coordinator and Port Macquarie and Districts Family History Society secretary Jennifer Mullin said family history was about knowing where you came from and giving you a place in time.
She said the process involved a gripping search.
“Everyone is remembered in family history,” she said.
“Not everyone is remembered in general history.”
Mrs Mullin encouraged people to come along with a couple of questions.
Volunteers will assist people during look-ups which tap into websites in the search for family history information.
One of the Port Macquarie and Districts Family History Society members will run a DNA table to help people learn about DNA.
There will be plenty of tips and hints to assist people as they research their family history.
Raffle prizes drawn on the day include a DNA kit and Ancestry subscription for a year.
Family history society members from Wyong and Manning Wallamba will attend the fair.
