Near River Produce’s pasture raised rare breed heritage pork has won the 2018 NSW paddock delicious. Produce Award.
“We are excited, relieved and filled with gratitude at being included in these coveted awards amongst other leading artisanal food producers,” said Andrew Hearne from Near River Produce at Hollisdale.
They are the only ‘nomination only’ food awards in Australia, and are judged solely by industry professionals with a huge emphasis on ethical and sustainable production.
“It is a huge honour, and provides a benchmark for our pasture raised rare breed pork,” said Andrew.
“Mostly, though, we have much gratitude for being able to do something that we love and contribute to our community, even if only in a small way.
“The support we receive from leading chefs, butchers and bakers in Port Macquarie, Newcastle and Sydney is greatly appreciated, as well as our farmers’ market and online customers,” he added.
In Port Macquarie, Near River produce can be found at Bill’s Fishhouse, Drury Lane Eatery, Salty Crew Kiosk, and Urban Grain Bakery. Their website is https://nearriverproduce.com
120 producers received state awards across dairy, paddock, sea and earth categories.

“In 2018 we continue to celebrate new, innovative, native and outstanding Australian ingredients grown, caught, sourced or produced with dedication, passion, knowledge and regard for the environment,” said delicious. editor-in-chief Kerrie McCallum.
