A weekend of excitement kicks off on Friday, May 4 with the Bright Night Fun Run and Ironkids on May 5 before the main events, Ironman and 70.3 Port Macquarie on Sunday May 6.
Here is a guide to everything you need to know about the weekend’s activities.
Friday night: Bright night Fun Run
Come along and bring your neon! The Bright Night Fun Run is a community event in the dark.
But never fear because Town Green and along the breakwall to Town Beach will be a kaleidoscope of neon lights and colour paving the way through the darkness.
The event will kick off a fantastic array of Ironman events for the weekend and is a great way to end the working week.
People of all ages are encouraged to come along from 4.30pm to register and take in the live entertainment at Town Green before the walk starts from Short Street.
The music will be pumping and the will be prizes for the best and worst colourfully dressed participants.
Saturday: Ironkids
For kids to get into the Ironman spirit Ironkids is a great way for them to get involved.
Kids aged 5-13 are able to participate in the exciting event along Town Green and the breakwall which will be a mini version of what the elite athletes will take on, on May 6.
The race begins on Saturday at 9am with check-in from 7.30am to 8.45am at Town Green.
Sunday: Ironman Australia and Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie
On Sunday the main events will be taking over the Hastings with a flurry of activity from Port Macquarie down through to the Camden Haven.
In the Port Macquarie CBD roads will be closed from 3.30am with rolling closures across the Hastings from 6am until after 6pm.
For road closures at Settlement Point and Port Macquarie.
For road closures at Pacific Drive, Matthew Flinders and Lighthouse.
For road closures at Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills.
For road closures at Camden Haven.
The Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie kicks off first from 6.22am at the Westport Boat ramp with competitors attempting a 1.9km swim, 90km bike leg and a 21.1km run to finish on Town Green from about 10.28am.
The Ironman Australia will commence from 7.13am with the pro males, before pro females start at 7.14am and from 7.18am a rolling start will begin by age group.
For the full Ironman athletes will swim 3.8kms, bike 180km and finishing with a 42.2km run to end on Town Green from around 3.30pm.
