AS CONFUCIUS said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”.
But finding the right career can be fraught.
Young workers are tipped to have nine jobs in a lifetime and work longer as the age of retirement is raised.
Also, technology has made redundant hundreds of lower-paid, lower-skilled jobs, while creating new roles across the nation.
It’s a revolutionary landscape to find work, much less a job that is satisfying, well paid and fulfilling.
Making the best career choices involves knowing yourself; what you like (your interests), what you are good at (your skills and abilities) and what is important to you (values).
Success is often about figuring out what you like and are good at and doing more of it. The good news is, help is at hand.
Don’t miss the Careers Market
Last year over 1000 young people from across the Mid North Coast discovered new ways to reach their career and study goals at the Mid Coast Careers Market.
So if you’re a year 9 to 12 student, or perhaps even their parent, don’t miss this event. You’ll find it on at The Glasshouse in Port Macquarie on Tuesday, May 22.
Brought to you by Mid Coast Connections, together with education partner TAFE NSW and additional support from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and CSU, it is a great chance to find out about all the local opportunities for employment, study and training.
Numbers in both exhibitors and participants have been steadily increasing each year and the event is set to be the biggest yet.
“We credit the success of the event to the diverse range of exhibitors and the high level of hands-on interaction.
“We’re looking forward to building on the success of past events and providing an engaging and informative event for anyone looking to see what’s available,” said Jenny Fraser, Executive Officer.
Here you can meet with training providers, industry representatives and support services.
Help is available to plan for the future and access up-to-date information on local industries, employment, education and vocational training.
The interactive exhibitions will make the experience fun as well as informative. There will be ‘hands-on’ activities and personal insights into why Exhibitors work within chosen their field
The Mid Coast Careers Market will be open from 10.00am until 2.00pm and members of the public are welcome to attend. Plus there is no charge for entry to the event.
