Port Macquarie-Hastings celebrities Mayor Peta Pinson, Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams, Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie, Rach Hart from Hit FM, Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce president Sue East and Rachel O’Neill from Holiday Coast Credit Union are in the competition.
On Sunday, May 27 the celebrities will aim to create a foodie masterpiece, through utilising all local produce from the region.
When asked by the Camden Haven Courier what she would create Rach Hart said ‘her lips were sealed’.
None of the other contestants wanted to give away their secret recipes for their sandwich sensations.
However they did reveal what they believe makes a great sandwich.
Sue said as long as they start with good quality local ingredients it’s bound to be a success.
Rach said the sandwich should have a ‘balance’ of elements which make up the filling.
Rachel said it’s important the sandwich isn’t ‘over complicated’.
The Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce initiated the Slice of Haven in 2008 as a way to help support businesses and the community.
“The brand has grown since and each year thousands of visitors come to taste a slice of the Camden Haven,” president Sue East said.
Sue said on behalf of the chamber she congratulated the Slice of Haven committee ‘who have worked extremely diligently on making the project a success’.
“We would also like to mention how lucky we are to have such an array of fresh local produce which enhances the community’s gourmet lifestyle,” she said.
Slice of Haven is on May 27 on the Camden Haven River foreshore, at the end of Seymour Street Laurieton from 10am until 4pm.
People are invited to enjoy all the sights, sounds and flavours of the Camden Haven’s finest food, wine, beer and music festival.
Bring a picnic blanket, your friends and family to Laurieton and enjoy a feast of gourmet local foods, drinks and entertainment.
Entry is by gold coin donation which supports the volunteer organisation who help at the event.
