Don't miss tasting superb local food - nostalgic noshes and futuristic fusions - as this year's Slice of Haven Festival embraces Flavours of our Generations this Sunday.
Set on the banks of the beautiful Camden Haven River in Laurieton, this is the coast's premier gourmet festival.
Here’s a sample of the menu:
Remember spiders? Find these, prawn dogs with green tomato relish and more at XS Food/Salty’s on Hastings stall at site 29.
Wrap your laughing gear around some buffalo at site 69. Eungai Creek Buffalo have pies, cheese, and gelato all made from buffalo milk.
If you need to warm up, there will be Indian, Thai, and African curries, Mexican food, as well as hot chilli sauces.
If you’re after fresh seafood, visit 66 where the chefs from the Laurieton United Services Club will be preparing the latest catch.
Time for dessert? Cakes, coffees and teas galore dotted all over the Slice of Haven event. Try Club North Haven at site 5, Sunrise Cakes (traditional Slavic seven-layer cakes – OMG) at site 74, Cassegrain’s Seasons Restaurant at site 72, and try My Blue Tea at site 25.
For the vegetarians and those with food sensitivities, Organic Belly (site 34) is serving raw treats, gluten-free crackers and vegan salad. Papa Pasty (site 55) has two vegan pasties and salads, Warinyan Farm (site 46) has an array of fermented vegetables, cultures drinks and dips, and a Slice regular, Sumita will serve her Indian Vegetarian Curries.
Of course there will be local cheeses and antipasto offerings from Comboyne Culture (site 42) to go with your Bago wine (site 40, working with Baba Lila handmade chocolates on a white chocolate cocktail – yes please), Roses Vineyard (site 44), Old Inn Wine (site 21), Longpoint Vineyard tipple (site 62).
The kids will be well-catered for with sweet treats, hot food from MJs Street Food (site 6), ice cream from Roscoes (site 71) and Gypsy Falls (site 78).
Sorry? Aren’t we forgetting something? The beer.
Slice of Haven wouldn’t be complete without craft beers to sample. Find Black Duck at site 57, Wicked Elf Beer at site 20, Grumpys Ginger Beer at site 45, The Coastal Brewing Co at site 33, Moore Beer at site 39, Hops n Tales at site 73, and The Welder’s Dog at site 70.
Enjoy performances from Movement Studios dance groups and music from locals like Ghost Road, Pam Hata, Black Magic, Roxferry and Emma Dykes and Co.
The stiltwalkers will wander, there will be toys to play with in the giant sandpit, rides for the kids, face painting and temporary tattoos, plenty of shade under marquees and a giant tepee from local company TipiLove.
Bring a picnic blanket and your appetite (no pets) on Sunday, May 27, 10am – 4pm.
