A fire which started in a laneway near the North Haven Post Office had the potential to be ‘serious’ says Fire and Rescue NSW Laurieton Fire Station commander Les King.

Mr King said the incident was reported to the station by a passer-by who helped to extinguish the fire before crews arrived.
On arrival, Mr King said there were three bins alight.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire for 30 minutes and Mr King said all bins were destroyed.
Mr King said the fire could have been serious, as it had the potential to spread to buildings near the laneway.
Mr King said the cause of the fire is unknown.
