On their last day of sailing, more than 50 people took to the water with sun out and a steady small wind conditions were perfect.
Sailability’s Rick Eller, said the last day of sailing was a chance for the organisation to thank those who had been instrumental in providing funding to the group.
"Today is all about us saying thank you to everyone who has contributed in getting disabled people from Laurieton to Wauchope out on the water,” Mr Eller said.
“This is our last day on the water before we take a break over winter and it is just a chance for everyone to come together an acknowledge all the work of our volunteers and sponsors over the summer sailing period.”
Mr Eller said the group have been able to assist those with a disability experience the joy of sailing.
“As volunteers we keep coming back each week because we love to see the joy on the faces of those who get to sail,” he said.
“We all see sailing as a special thing and to be able to share that, is fantastic.
“All our volunteers love being able to see those who come for a sail develop self esteem and confidence when they come each week.”
He said despite volunteers doing what they do out of love, it takes generous sponsors to keep the organisation going.
“We would not be able to do what we do if it weren’t for our sponsors, so we see today as a very important day.
“It costs a lot of money to ensure the boats and all the gear is up to date and we could not do it without financial support.
“So we just want to say thank you to everyone in the community who have helped us help those with a disability enjoy the water.”
Sailability Port Macquarie will resume their work when the weather warms up in September.
