It’s no secret that our region is an attractive destination for retirees. We live in a beautiful environment, and have a thriving and connected community that would make anyone feel at home.
As our population continues to grow and more people move to our area, it’s important our community is aware of the issues experienced by seniors and the local services that exist.
To help inform seniors and those who work with older people, there will be a free forum for retirees to join in the conversation about seniors’ issues and rights.
Our special guest will be the Hon Dr Kay Patterson AO, Age Discrimination Commissioner, along with many community service group representatives.
I encourage all seniors to attend on Monday, June 4, from 10am at The Westport Club. To RSVP please call the Seniors Rights Service on 0458 467 245.
Upgrading our public spaces
Last weekend I was thrilled to attend Slice of Haven, and had a fantastic day meeting lots of our community, and indulging in some great local food.
As I walked around the festival, it was obvious how lucky we are to be able to hold outdoor events like this, and how important our public spaces are to our community.
To further improve these much loved spaces, council is giving Lasiandra Park Wauchope a much needed makeover, installing a new playground, picnic facilities and exercise equipment.
We also have new and improved amenities being built at Shelly Beach, and upgraded play spaces being finished off at Laurieton Oval, Laura Place, and Long Flat, just to name a few.
If you have an idea for what you’d like to see improved, please let council know via our website pmhc.nsw.gov.au/About-Us/Give-Council-Feedback/Contact-Us or to our customer service team. This is our place and our home, and the best way to continue to improve and grow, is to share ideas and work together.
