A great evening of fun and friendship was enjoyed by Wauchope Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club members on Saturday May 26.
Special guests included Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams and her husband, Don, Mayor Peter Pinson and her husband, Craig, Wauchope RSL Club president Mal Butler and his wife, Rosemary, Wauchope Lions Club Secretary Jim Munro and his wife, Faye, Jaci Fisher from Hastings Co-op and Josh Eldridge from the club’s major sponsor and life saving partner, First National Real Estate North Haven.

The Ocean Drive Family Practice Shield for the Family Patrol of the Year went to the Alchin family – father, Peter, son, Ethan and daughter, Keira.
The First National Real Estate, North Haven Club Rookie of the year was won by Luke Warwick.
Junior Lifesaver of the Year was Jasper Schultz.
The Allan Barlin Shield for Sportsperson of the Year was won by Hugh Stewart.
The Masters Sports Award was won by Keith Charles, who won medals at both the NSW and Australian Championships.
The Club Surf Craft Competitor of the Year was won by Hugh Stewart.
The Club Beach Competitor of the Year was won by Keith Charles.
The Club Swimmer of the Year was won by Hugh Stewart.
The Grahame Buckley Memorial Surf Boat Rower of the Year, sponsored by the Port Macquarie Ironman Organising Committee, was won by Drouin Pike.
The Dan Roods Memorial Trophy for Boat Crew of the Year was won by the Reserve Men’s crew, The Rogue Sharks. They are Ged Roods, Tony Kee, Matt Bird, Michael Barnes and sweep Wayne Dickson.
Karen Roods presented it and said she was delighted that their son, Ged, is following in his father’s footsteps.
“Dan loved being part of this club. It’s just like a family,” she said.
The Isaacs and Cole Chartered Accountants Simon Stennett Memorial Trophy for Young Surf Boat Rower of the Year was won by Jess Willis.
Club president Peter Smith paid tribute to Simon.
“In late October 2016, we lost a much-loved and highly respected member of a surfboat crew and lifesaver,” he said.
“Simon, aged 34, rowed his last race at South West Rocks on Saturday October 29 2016. Stenno will always be remembered as a dedicated, passionate rower and surf lifesaver.”

The Club President’s award for outstanding contribution to the club was won by Dolly Bligh-Jones who patrolled 62 hours, and helped with the carnival, prepping all the food for the officials and is always available to help when needed.
The awards for under 15 club persons of the year went to Reeve Anderson and Keira Alchin.
The awards for under 17 club persons of the year went to Hugh Stewart and Grace Kuhnell.
The Eric Saunders Memorial Shield for Under-19 Club persons of the year went to Michael Barnes and Jess Willis.
The Chalkie Bob Smith awards for Club Life Saver of the Year went to Peter Alchin and Michelle Butt.
The Volunteer of the Year award was won by Jeremy Bate.
The Trainer of the Year award was won by Paul Hoole.
The Surf Sports Coach of the Year was won by Elaine Walker.
Team of the Year was the U17 ski relay team of Hugh Stewart, Jack Tougher and Chayce Anderson.
The Administrator of the Year award was won by Phil Kaufmann.
The Young Life Saver of the Year award was won by Greg Mitchell.
The Young Athlete of the Year award was won by Hugh Stewart.
The Surf Sports Official of the Year was won by Glen Stewart.
The Junior Lifesaver of the Year was Jasper Schultz.
President Peter Smith announced that the new all-terrain vehicle is to be named ‘Jill and Neil’ in honour of Jill and Neil Woodlands.
He said the new inflatable rescue boat is to be named ‘Jill Trotter’ after their esteemed life member, who quipped: “Thank you so much, but you know, Peter, I can’t swim.”
