The Port Macquarie-Hastings looks like experiencing a real mixed bag of weather conditions over the next few days.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a marine wind warning up to midnight on Friday for the Macquarie Coast along with a hazardous surf warning.
NSW Police and Marine Area Command have advised that people should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage. While boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.
Meteorologist with weatherzone Tom Hough says the warnings are due to a developing low situated over the Tasman Sea.
"That low is going to remain in place for the next couple of days before gradually moving east away from the mainland," Mr Hough said.
"The winds look like peaking on Friday and will begin to ease by Sunday.
"Surf conditions will see two to three metre surf on Thursday and peaking to three to four metres on Friday with five-plus metre waves offshore.
By Saturday the surf will increase to three to four metres and offshore up to six to seven metres. Surf conditions are likely to ease by Sunday afternoon.
