The Kendall Blues players thanked the many ladies that support them during the football season. The game coincided with the club’s annual Ladies Day, where every woman is presented a glass of wine.
A club spokesperson said it didn’t matter if the ladies backed the Blues or the Rays.
“The club would like to thank each and every one of you,” she said.
The Blues and the Stingrays have meet three times previously with the Blues always coming out on top.
“That didn’t mean the Blues were expecting an easy win, as the Stingrays have been improving with each and every game they have played,” The club spokesperson said.
The team was led on the field by Chris Hanlon who played his 100th game for the Blues.
The Blues started with an intensity that was quickly rewarded with tries. Matt Hensley had an absolute blinder. He proved to be too quick out wide and crossed for three tries.
The Latham Brothers, Jahbe and Bayd as usual were all quality and both crossed the try line twice.
James Kennedy and Jed Seymour were both consistently aggressive in attack and managed to cross the line once each.
Alex Pearce had horrendous conditions trying to convert the tries with at times rain, sleet and blistery cold wind. Six successful conversions helped the Blues to win the match with a final score of 48 to 16.
Man of the match went to Bayd Latham with players’ player going to Chris Hanlon.
Captain/coach Beau Kettle and assistant coach Dustin Prosser said they were proud of how the boys played as a team.
“It was the most complete performance all year, the whole team seemed to lift for Chris and his 100th game,” Kettle said.
“As the football season continues, the boys just get better and better.”
Half time entertainment was a display by the Camden Haven Physical Culture Club.
Lydene Heslop from the club said was very thankful for the support from the Kendall Blues.
Kendall Blues President Wayne Wilkes said he is more than happy in how the Blues are going.
The club thanked all the hard working women who support the players throughout the year.
