The Folk Song Suite features folk inspired music from around the globe. The program was selected by musical director and conductor Iain Pole.
Vaughan William’s Folk Song Suite was arranged by the composer for military band. It comprises three movements of two rousing marches and a hauntingly beautiful intermezzo.
This musical voyage will transport listeners through England, Scotland and Ireland as well as to exotic locations like Hungary, Africa, the Caribbean, Russia and Japan.
The pieces range from bright and toe-tapping, thrilling and dramatic to ethereal and atmospheric.
The band is made up of musicians of all ages and talents. Some players are showcased in solos.
The community is invited to support the local community band by gathering their friends and family for the afternoon of entertainment.
The first concert is at Kendall Community Hall on Sunday, June 24 from 2pm.
Another concert with be at the Laurieton School of Arts on Sunday, July 8 from 2pm.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 12-years-old and under.
Tickets are available at the door. Afternoon tea is included, plus the chance to win a lucky door prize!
