A $3000 grant through the Holiday Coast Credit Union’s 2018 Community Partnership Grants has been awarded to the group to provide a safer and more user friendly way to transport equipment for outdoor adventures.
The allocation was part of Holiday Coast Credit Union’s 2018 Community Partnership Grants to 33 organisations.
Camden Haven Girl Guides district manager Kim Woodhouse said the group provides all girls and women an outdoor program which includes camping, canoeing and kayaking.
“The trailer will give us the ability to transport our equipment safely and more simply,” she said.
“This in turn will provide more opportunities for our girls and women to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of our holiday coast.”
Wauchope Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club received $3000 to purchase new equipment for the club including oars and safety equipment.
A team of five women aged 16 to 19 years-old recently competed in the 2017/18 season for the first time as a team.
They won a gold medal at NSW Country Championships and received a mention as a team rowing in the Open Women's Division of the North Coast Surf Boat Series.
The grant will go towards the purchase of new light weight oars which will help make the team more competitive.
The grant will also assist in the purchase of new helmets, for when surf conditions become rough.
Laurieton Tennis Club received $363 to fund the painting of the club house.
The club is run by volunteers and their aim is to provide tennis facilities to a standard that allows easy access to a variety of members.
Holiday Coast Credit Union’s 2018 Community Partnership Grants totalling $73,000 went to 33 organisations.
There have been presentations at the Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Taree branches.
Some 16 groups across the Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Camden Haven areas were among the recipients.
Holiday Coast Credit Union CEO Neville Parsons said it was the members who did business with Holiday Coast Credit Union that enabled the credit union to allocate part of its profits to community groups.
“We at Holiday Coast remain committed to the growth and wellbeing of our local communities and the support of the many volunteer groups that enhance those communities,” he said.
