Students representing Kew’s Mid North Coast Karate travelled to Sydney to compete at the Goshin Ryu Karate Australian National Championships.

Goshin Ryu is one of the largest and longest running Karate Clubs in Australia.
Students are trained by fifth Dan Shihan Peter Becroft who been teaching in the Camden Haven for over 21 years and has over 40 years experience in martial arts.
Students competed in both kata and sparring events at the national tournament.
“I am extremely proud of each and every one of my student’s achievements,” Shihan Peter said.
“They have all trained hard and their dedication has paid off with the tremendous results they all achieved.”
Jay Iveli placed third in the 8/9 year kata and first in the 8/9 year sparring.
Sam Hilton placed second in the 8/9 year sparring.
Sempai Blake Ellis came second in the 10/11 year kata and first in the 10/11 year sparring.
Sempai Jordan Guest placed second in the 13/14 year kata and first in the 13/14 year sparring. Sempai Jade Hilton placed second in the 13/14 year sparring.
Sempai Anissa Hilton placed second in the ladies open kata, second in the ladies veterans kata and second in ladies sparring.
Sempai Shaun Budai placed third in the mens open kata.
Shihan Peter Becroft placed second in the mens open kata and second in the mens veterans kata.
Shihan Peter said not only does karate teach self-defence, it also teaches focus, co-ordination, self-confidence, self- esteem, goal setting and self-belief.
“Most importantly it is a lot of fun,” he said.
“We are a family orientated club, with many families training together.”
Mid North Coast Karate operates from its fully equipped training centre at Kew.
Classes are available for all levels and abilities from three-years-old to mature adults.
