A CYCLIST has died after sustaining critical head injuries in an accident with a truck on the Oxley Highway just outside of Port Macquarie on June 14.

The incident occurred at 6am on the eastbound lanes of the Oxley Highway near John Oxley Drive.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the cyclist and a truck, driven by a 42-year-old Port Macquarie man, collided.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said emergency services were alerted and they issued three response crews to the scene along with police units.
A cyclist was found at the scene with facial, chest and severe head injuries. He was unconscious when paramedics arrived.
They applied a pelvic splint and mobilised the man on a spinal board before transporting him to Port Macquarie Base Hospital. He died shortly after arriving in emergency.
The Crash Investigation Unit and officers from the Mid North Coast Police District were on scene for several hours.
The truck driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
A full investigation into the accident has been launched.
