Port Macquarie-Hastings Council sought community feedback on the playground design for the upgrade.
New features for the playground include a new flying fox, swing set with toddler seat, spinners and a picnic table.
A spokesperson from the council said the park is expected to be open by the end of June.
“Some final touches and parts are required to be installed to ensure the structures are safe and comply with relevant standards,” he said.
The key objectives for the upgrade was to include more shade and seating, have diversity of equipment, the addition of natural play elements and upgraded softfall and edging.
The design incorporates low steppers to add an extra balancing play element and modifications to the existing playground equipment.
“This will allow the playground to be more accessible to younger children in response to feedback received,” the spokesperson said.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council maintains 66 playgrounds across the municipality.
About $80,000 was allocated to the project from the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council 2017/2018 operational plan.
