We stopped and chatted to several people and their dogs. We did not see any bad behaviour or dog poo. I think there are even stalls selling things for dogs.
As for the disease factor, Europe would have died out long ago, if this was a genuine threat. There you will see dogs on all forms of public transport and in cafes and even department stores.
It is unreasonable to ban dogs on a lead in an outdoor area. If navigation is the issue, then we would also have to ban prams, strollers and wheelchairs.
I think there is more than enough room for everyone to enjoy the markets. Please Laurieton, continue as you are. Better a happy dog out socialising than a bored and barking dog locked up in a backyard.
