Once complete, pedestrians, cyclists and others will be able to safely travel from Laurieton to North Haven and vice versa.
A spokesperson said the current work is associated with the broader Stingray Creek Bridge replacement project.
He said while the path is part of the ultimate Beach to Beach Riverwalk network (from Dunbogan to North Haven), the current work is not tied in with the funding of the project.
The spokesperson said footpath construction on the northern side of the bridge has been completed.
He said it is anticipated, weather dependent, that the path on the southern side will be completed by Friday, June 29.
Work will then move onto construction of a centre refuge at the new crossing point, the spokesperson said, and will progress subject to contractor availability in the coming weeks.
