Lake Cathie Public School students and staff had a special assembly and participated in activities as part of NAIDOC Week on Friday, July 6.
The event celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The theme for 2018 is ‘Because of her, We can!’
“It’s important for children to learn about respect for all cultures,” Mr Hayward said.
Activities included art, dancing and bushtucker tasting to teach the students and staff about the history and customs of Aboriginal people.
Students were excited to taste the kangaroo and crocodile bushtucker.
