Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you have to travel alone.
Sure there are those adventurous types who want to throw on a huge backpack and explore the globe solo but for the rest of us, having a travel companion is far more preferable.
Unfortunately many singles are missing out on the joy of travel because they simply don’t have anyone in their lives to take a trip with.
“Travel just isn’t the same since I lost my husband,” Sheila, a 70-year-old widow from the Mid North Coast said.
“My daughter is busy with work and the children, so I find I just don’t go anywhere anymore.”
Amber of Camden Haven travel said she would often meet women like Sheila.
But she found the perfect solution.
“Itchy Feet Travel Club was created after we were approached by some clients who were looking for travel companions,” she said.

“We recognised the need in the community to encourage singles to get travelling again.”
The travel club is a very casual get together, over a coffee the group discusses where they want to go and where they have been.
Some people are looking for someone to travel with and some are looking for ideas, inspiration and some great deals.
In 2017 it was the Itchy Feet Travel Club which inspired the Field of Lights Tour.
A group of 24 locals, singles and couples headed off towards Adelaide.
Here they boarded The Ghan and travelled in style to Uluru.
“We had a wonderful time and many friendships were made,” said Amber.
They are now only one month away from departing on their 2018 adventure, again inspired by members of the group.
With Cape York as their chosen destination, the group of singles, couples and friends and family will be collected from their front door and travel carefree together all the way to the Cape and back again.

“The group is about everything travel not just escorted tours,” said Amber.
“Some of the members have paired up to take bus trips together, day trips or even just meet up for coffee.”
The next meeting of the group is at the Laurieton United Services Club on Wednesday August 1 at 2pm with afternoon tea included.
