Meteorologist with weatherzone Brett Dutschke says there is very little in the way of rain on the horizon.

"There is no significant rain on the way," he said. "There will be a few spots in the area of Port Macquarie on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

"Unfortunately it has very little moisture with it," he said.

"It looks like any recordable rainfall will be confined to the higher ground."

Mr Dutschke said the predominate weather pattern is generally clear skies much like we have had over the last few weeks.

We could see a few milder days, which is typical for this time of the year as we near Spring, he said.

"Given those clear skies, the nights will be colder than average while the days will be warmer than the average for this time of the year," he said.

The minimum temperature for Saturday is 4 degrees with a maximum temperature of 23 to 24 degrees.

There is the chance of some light frosts in the sheltered areas.

And the traditional seabreeze won't materialise either.

"Off the back of the change on Saturday night, we will see a minimum temperature on Sunday of 5 to 6 degrees and only warming up to 19 degrees in the afternoon," Mr Dutschke said.

"The August maximum temperature is 20 degrees while the minimum for this time of the year is 7 degrees.

"The presence of that low pressure trough will also see a very chilly Monday morning, down to about -1 degree with a good chance of frosts too. The maximum for Monday is 20 degrees.

"Broadly speaking, each day and night will be warming up a little bit. By the end of next week the daytime temperatures will be up to the mid-20s."

North, north easterly winds on Saturday will eventually turn westerly late on Saturday night and continue through to mid next week, Mr Dutschke said.

The seas will only briefly get beyond three metres as a result of that wind change before things settle down quite quickly.

There is a strong wind warning for coastal waters on Saturday afternoon and the next peak in the wind is mid-Sunday.
