It was a frosty start to the day reaching a very brisk four degrees, with a slight westerly wind making conditions off shore for almost perfect surfing conditions.
The longboard divisions took to the water just after dawn where they enjoyed the three foot rolling swell, which was a pleasant surprise as the swell had been elusive all week.
The championships continued with mini mal followed by the shortboard divisions.
Further up the beach on a separate bank, our beginner caddy and beginner caddy optional divisions were battling it out to see who would be crowned winter champions for 2018.
The surfer girls rode some excellent waves, demonstrating some exceptional manoeuvres with wave scores as high as nine out of 10.
It is safe to say the future of women’s surfing on the mid north coast is alive and well and being nurtured within the Mid North Girls Surfriders Club.
On completion of our competition our winter champions were crowned.
It was fitting to present the winners with beautiful handcrafted beanies, flower bouquets and hair care products.
Congratulations to our Winter Champions for 2018:
