Director Susan Crowle said Kendall Preschool has been an important feature in the community since a small group of locals banded together, to ensure children had a place to learn and grow before they started formal education.
In 1988 the preschoolers initially met at the Kendall School of Arts Hall.
However due to a rise in enrolments, a more suitable location was sourced and created in the old NSW Forestry buildings on Railway Street.
The preschool moved and was officially opened on March 22, 1994 by Mavis Barnes and Alison Haylett.
Susan said over the years there have been many community members who have generously volunteered to ensure the preschool remained open.
Former directors including Anne Overton, Maree Callow and Andrew Bagnall inspired visions for the preschool over the years.
Current director Susan Crowle said she continues to create innovative directions for early childhood education.
A number of celebrations have taken place for a variety of reasons over the years.
These include gifting of the building to the preschool, garden extensions, preschool birthdays, art exhibition openings, 25 years of service for Miss Cathy and Miss Lynn, community garden openings, sea litter signs, end of year picnics and spring fetes.
Past and present students, educators, committee members and local preschool supporters are all invited to the preschool’s 30th birthday.
An official open day and afternoon tea is at Kendall Preschool from 4pm on Saturday, September 15.
At 5.30pm a party is at the Kendall Services and Citizen’s Club.
The preschool would love to hear from families and past committee members about their memories to enrich the archives.
