Students represented the only public school at the NSW Open RoboCup Championships at the University of New South Wales.
Fifteen students travelled to Sydney to compete in the huge competition, and took home third place in the Standard Soccer. They also placed second and third in the Open Soccer.
Year 11 students Alisha Cooper and Tiana Moore hoped to back up their 2017 winner’s title in the Standard Soccer, but were defeated by Northern Beaches Christian School in the final.
The robots in Standard Soccer are built from Lego blocks and programmed to score goals in the opposition’s net.
Open Soccer robots can be constructed from electronic components, making the robots more complex to build and program.
Year 8 students from Camden Haven High School went up against Year 12 Scot’s College students in the final of the Open Soccer.
Although the Scot’s creation proved too strong for Camden Haven’s robots, the team did the school proud and placed both second and third in the division.
The team would like to thank sponsors Camden Haven Rotary, First National North Haven, Bennetts Steel, Mid Coast Fasteners, Abstract Plastics and Mid Coast Eggs.
Teachers were thanked for going the extra mile to support the students.
