It was a beautiful display of mateship and mutual respect as members of the Laurieton Men’s Shed and residents of Laurieton Lakeside Aged Care bonded over lunch on Thursday, August 30.
Residents from the aged care home were treated to woodfired pizzas, made from scratch by members of the Men’s Shed.
The event was organised in celebration of Father’s Day, which is on September 1.
Laurieton Lakeside activities officers Donna Clayton and Cassy Greentree said the special service was reflective of the close bond the two services had built up over time.
One resident Reg Moore said it was the best pizza he’s ever eaten.
“I usually just get ham and pineapple,” he said.
The pizzas came with a variety of ingredients including spinach, chicken and anchovies.
Another resident Arthur described the lunch as being a ‘beautiful feed’.
Arthur used to live in Parramatta and ate pizza every weekend.
Cassy said a lot of residents were former members of the Men’s Shed and it’s very special for them to have the opportunity to mingle with the present members.
