“It warms my heart,” said Robyn.
When it was first established, the group had 16 members and has since grown to over 60.
On Friday, August 31 the group’s exhibition was officially opened by Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams.
She said there weren’t enough words to describe the importance of the group.
“You are a credit to yourselves and the wider community,” she said.
The exhibition is on Friday, August 31 and Saturday, September 1 from 9.30am until 3.30pm at the Uniting Church on Bold Street, Laurieton.
The theme for the event is ‘A Floral Affair’ and will feature crafts including embroidery, quilting, paper tole, card making, knitting, crocheting, flower making and mosaics.
Devonshire teas will be available for purchase and can be enjoyed in a quiet setting on the back veranda. A variety of craft items will be on sale.
Laurieton Haven Craft Centre president Doreen said all proceeds from the show will go to Soldier On to help support service men, women and their families.
“This is a non government funded organisation and is a much needed community service,” she said.
“It is a privilege and pleasure for our group to be able to help by supporting them in this way.”
