It was reported 1998 brought outstanding success for young North Haven dancer 11-year-old Alison McWhinney.
Amongst her achievements at the Taree Eisteddfod were first place for 12 years and under Open Classical Ballet Championship and second place in the 12 years and under Open Junior Jazz Championship. Alison was also awarded the Carmen’s Trophy for most promising classical dancer.
In January, 1998 at the Les Griffith Memorial Eisteddfod in Newcastle Alison won the Junior Classical Ballet Scholarship 12 years and under which entitled her to one week tuition at Dance World 301 Melbourne.
The Harris Eisteddfod also in Newcastle brought Alison success in the 11 years Classical Ballet solo.
In 1998 Alison competed at the McDonald’s City of Sydney Challenge and was awarded first place in the 12 years Classical Ballet Solo.
