Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is inviting members of the community to give feedback on what elements they would like to be implemented.
A council information session for the public is on Wednesday, September 19 between 3pm and 4.30pm.
Julie is grandmother to cousins Matilda Maniago and Ella Barklimore, who are both three-years-old. She visits Wall Reserve at North Haven at least once a week.
Currently Julie said the seahorse rocking structure at the park is dangerous.
“Due to the shape of the equipment, the horse can bounce back and hit the child on the forehead,” she said.
It would be nice, Julie said if the park incorporated more variety of play equipment, including a tunnel.
A playground upgrade is also scheduled for Herons Creek Reserve. People will also have the opportunity to have their say at the pop up session on September 19.
Director Melissa Watkins said feedback from the community has resulted in the region’s playground designs moving away from traditional swings and slides.
“We’re installing rocks, boulders, climbing logs and other natural play elements in our playgrounds, which encourage kids to explore, create their own fun and let their imaginations run wild,”she said.
Playground upgrades were recently completed at Laurieton Oval.
Upgrades to the existing playground at the Lake Cathie Foreshore Reserve will get underway in mid-October.
The upgrade will include accessible play elements including a wheelchair accessible carousel.
A new play unit, balancing beams, ropes and park furniture will also feature.
Herons Creek Reserve playground draft designs are open for community feedback until Friday, September, 21. Wall Reserve playground will be open for feedback until Friday, October 5.
