Ekam Yoga Festival will offer free classes and activities Saturday and Sunday, September 15-16 on the grounds of The Francis Retreat Bonny Hills.
In its fourth year, the yoga festival has expanded to two full days, and many activities don’t require a ticket.
Talks, taster classes, a family say and a healthy living expo are open to the public free of charge 8:30am-4 pm both days.
Denis Juelicher, founder of Ekam Yoga Festival, designed the festival to bring the entire community together.
“The open space at The Francis Retreat in Bonny Hills is a perfect location for the community to gather. It’s an opportunity to slow down and spend time together in a beautiful natural setting,” Ms Juelicher said.
At this year’s festival new presenters with a large following include Matt Omo from Sydney. Matt is known as the Gong Guru and one of the leaders of the sound healing movement in Australia.
Spirit of Bhakti will visit the festival for the first time from Brisbane with their sacred fusion of Western folk music and traditional Indian melodies.
Back by popular demand are Eve Grzybowski from Manning Valley and East Coast Yoga from Nambucca Heads.
Saturday is family day. With room to run, families will enjoy spending time outdoors together. A Kids’ Yoga class starts at 1pm and nature crafts run all day. Bring a picnic rug.
Free activities for the community include a Talks Corner with one-hour presentations throughout the weekend. Published authors, yoga teachers and health professionals will share information on healthy living, food and mental well-being.
Over 10 taster classes will be offered both days, and all are welcome to participate without a booking. Class styles include Ashtanga, Gentle Flow and Laughter Yoga.
Classes are suitable for beginners. Bring a mat or rug.
The Natural Health & Living Expo is free and open to the public 8:30am-4pm. It’s an opportunity to explore natural therapies, talk with alternative health professionals and shop for natural products.
Aromatherapy and massage therapy will also be available.
Ekam Yoga Festival is organised by Random Acts of Yoga, a not-for-profit organisation based in Port Macquarie, which aims to improve the local community’s well-being through yoga.
