Camden Haven High School student Madelaine Goodridge has smashed state and national records while competing at the NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association’s Athletics Championships.

Madelaine has cerebral palsy and competed in the multi-class 12-15 years division.
Madelaine broke the national and state para records in the shot put with a distance of 5.36 metres. She came second.
Madelaine came fourth and broke the state record for the discus event.
In the long jump Madelaine was awarded gold with a distance of 2.63 metres.
In the track events Madelaine came seventh in the 100 metre distance and eighth for the 200 metres.
Madelaine’s mum Kate said she was very proud of her daughter.
“All her hard work has paid off,” she said.
Madelaine travels to Sydney once a month for training with her coach.
When she’s not in Sydney, Kate said Madelaine will skype or send videos to her coach, for advice on her technique.
Kate said Madelaine’s active lifestyle helps her manage the symptoms of her cerebral palsy.
She is also a talented swimmer.
In 2017 Madelaine was announced as the recipient of a Variety Heart Scholarship.
Madelaine’s dream is to one day be a paralympian.
She will compete at the NSW All Schools Championship over four days from September 27.
