It was reported in the Courier that Kendall Public School students raised an amazing $3424 through family and community sponsorship for the Jump Off, as a culmination of the Jump Rope for Heart fundraising.
The National Heart Foundation program was adopted as the main student fundraiser for 1997.
The program started with a visit from skippers from Kempsey East Public School earlier in the year.
“Since then students have been practicing their play time, doing demonstrations each morning at assembly and gathering sponsors leading up to the Jump Off,” it was reported.
The event included tabloid sports activities including skipping and novelty races.
The activities were enjoyed by both parents and students.
Positive aspects of the program included an improvement in students’ fitness.
A small percentage of the funds raised by the children will remain in the school to purchase resources for future fitness activities.
