The event was organised by the North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN) and the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHPS).
The event is part of the Healthy Towns program and aims to provide an opportunity for the community to connect and learn more about local health and wellbeing services.
NCPHN Healthy Towns Lake Cathie senior project officer Romayne Page said it’s an important day for the whole community.
“It’s an informative event where people can have their say about what they would like to see in their community and to connect with existing services,” she said.
The event was organised following feedback provided by community members at consultation sessions.
Romayne said this is the first event of its kind which has been hosted in Lake Cathie.
“I hope this is the start of more to come,” she said.
Bonny Hills resident Leonie Voss said she decided to come along to the event because she was interested in the health information on offer.
Free activities on the day included a healthy food cook-off, music, a smoothie bike, free health checks presented by the Lake Cathie Medical Centre, face painting, games and a barbecue lunch.
