The descendants of Frederick and more significantly his daughter Charlotte Meredith Stewart Farrell gather over the weekend to celebrate as part of the John Oxley Bicentenary celebrations.

Charlotte became an early settler in Port Macquarie. 

Nan Bosler, president of the group said that it was a special weekend for the entire family who had come to Port Macquarie.

“I think it is important that the descendants of the Frederick Meredith family come together to share and celebrate our shared history,” Mrs Bosler said.

“The weekend is all about catching up with relatives, connecting with new family members and learning more about the past.”

Mrs Bosler said the family did keep in touch regularly but it was nothing compared to face to face gatherings.

“We have a monthly newsletter where we share what we have been doing and if anyone has found out any information about our history we share that too,” she said.

“It is a great way to keep in touch especially as we have relatives all over Australia and even overseas these days it can be hard to keep track of everyone.

“But we usually meet up for a big reunion every three to four years in different places but coming to Port Macquarie has been really special.”

Over the weekend the group have planned outings to the cemetery and museum to explore the local history.

“I think everyone has been really excited about coming to Port Macquarie and we have all had a great time.”

Long lost relative John Loughlin said he was excited to be in Port Macquarie for the reunion.

“My mum’s side of the family was part of the Judge line but both my parents died when I was 10 so I never had any contact with them so coming to something like this is fantastic,” Mr Loughlin said.

“It is a chance to meet some of my family and to maybe see if I can find any other connections.”
