In heavy conditions at the Mid North Coast Girls Surf Classic, Enfield came up with two eight-point rides to comfortably take out the title.

At times, wave heights measured between four and six feet and towered over the youngster, but Enfield wasn’t daunted by the task at hand.

Club president Robyn Wallace was impressed by the youngster’s ability to welcome the challenging conditions.

“I scored the final she was in and she paddled right out the back,” she said.

“She loves a challenge, but she was like a cork bobbing around out in the ocean.”

Bonny Hills teenager Klaire Fallon won the under-18 short board division over Halle Ford, while Lola Styles defeated Macy Knox in the beginner girls caddy division.

Now in its 15th year, the event is hosted by the Mid North Coast Girls Surfriders Club Inc.

The club is a community-based club providing a service for surfer girls on the Mid North Coast.

It promotes girls surfing, fun, fitness, friendship and the focus on participation rather than cutthroat competition.

Wallace said competitors only completed their first round of heats on Saturday as conditions deteriorated and second round heats were cancelled.

They headed straight into the finals on Sunday.

“It was challenging even for the more experienced girls, but you’ve got to take the good with the bad,” Wallace said.

In total more than 60 competitors took to the water with Port Macquarie’s Jenna Arnold taking out the open short board division.

Kelly Fyfe won the over-45 long board and open mini mal divisions.
