Assistant principal Jessica Koenig said the drama showcase was titled Bringing Stories to Life.
“Each class presented an original play based on favourite stories in two evening shows and a matinee in September,” she said.
“The children gained lots of skills through this experience, as well as instilling confidence and creating life-long memories of performing on the stage.”
Kindergarten students presented ‘A Rumble in the Jungle’, which was about animals coming together to make music in the breeze.
Year 1 students had fun staging a production based on the story ‘Danny in the Toybox’, which was about a boy who had a tantrum.
The Year 2 class presented the story behind the crime in ‘What the Ladybird Heard’.
Year 3 students put together their performance based on a writer who used characters to write a creative story.
‘A Piece of Straw’ is a Japanese fable, presented by Year 4 students, with a message about paying luck forward.
Year 5 students took their audience into the future, in a space age tale of aliens who were assigned to find out about the typical Australian in the book ‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie?’
The traditional poem of ‘The Pied Piper’ was enacted by Year 6 students, using character groups and special dramatic effects.
The audience comprised of parents, friends, local preschoolers, parishioners and the wider community members.
“We are sure all the students will cherish this experience for many years to come,” Mrs Koenig said.
