Over the weekend, I was endorsed by The Nationals Lyne Federal Electorate Council to run again as the party’s candidate at next year’s federal election.

It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be selected to run for The Nationals and to represent the people of our wonderful part of Australia. Since I was first elected in 2013, The Nationals have played an important role in the federal Coalition government. While working with our Liberal colleagues to fix the nation’s finances, we have significantly boosted our investment in infrastructure, health and aged care, education. And our regional community and economic programs are helping to generate thousands of jobs across our region.
During my time as local federal MP, aged care funding has increased from $90 million a year in the electorate to more than $130-million today, providing more services for seniors and creating more than 675 new jobs in the region’s aged care sector.
Our massive infrastructure investment has seen the total transformation of the Pacific Highway through our electorate to a first class motorway and as the final sections of the upgrade near completion further north, planning is now underway on the various interchanges and flyovers that still need to be built throughout our region.
The Nationals investment in the North Coast Jobs and Investment package is creating over 200 new jobs and locked in the future operations of a number of our manufacturers and businesses in our electorate.
More than 20 new bridges are being built across our local road network thanks to the Bridges Renewal program and more than 25 local road black spots have been eliminated and made safer as a result of The Nationals’ record investment in the road black spot program.
Local councils are also benefitting from record investment in both Federal Financial Assistance Grants and Roads to Recovery funding.
These two funding streams are very important to our local councils and I’m keen to see them expanded in some way in the future to provide a further boost to the regional councils that have much larger local road networks than our city cousins.
The Nationals have also secured over $200 million to continue rolling out new mobile phone towers to eliminate mobile phone black spots and I’m delighted more and more towers are going up and are scheduled to go up across our electorate.
Over the past five years, I have also enjoyed helping many people who have come to me for assistance, and helping them to resolve their issues.
In addition to the wonderful support I have received from our community, I’d like to thank my wife Charlotte and my family for their love and support in helping me dedicate the time and effort to do this important job.
