Model came second in the men's IR6 four minute endurance row on October 22. Aussie teammate Ben Farinazzo won the gold medal.
He was also third across the line in the men's IR6 one minute sprint to win silver after a three-way race to the finish which ended in a dead heat between Farinazzo and the Ukraine’s Serhii Ilnytskyi.
Model is one of 500 competitors from 18 nations competing in Sydney and forms part of the 72 member strong Australian Invictus Games Squad.
The Invictus Games is an international adaptive multi-sport competition for serving and former serving military personnel who've been wounded, injured or become ill during their military service.
Model was also chosen as one of two Australian athletes to meet The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan who officially opened the Games on October 20.
During the week, athletes will compete in 11 adaptive sports, including archery, athletics, indoor rowing, powerlifting, road cycling, sailing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball and rugby.
Model joined the army as a rifleman in 2004 and was deployed overseas on peace keeping operations in 2006 and 2007. He was injured in East Timor in 2007 and medically discharged in 2008.
He sustained a spinal injury during operations to catch former Timorese rebel leader Alfredo Reinado.
Model, the indoor rowing team captain, will also compete on the athletics track. He will run in the 200 metre, 400 metre and 100 metre relay events.
Matthew’s wife and their 11-year-old twin boys are in the crowd to cheer him on.
