Our region has already seen some celebrated some great bicentenary events. From fun days and historic tours to commemorative plays and book launches, lots has happened with plenty more still to come. This Sunday, our whole community is invited to head to Town Green in Port Macquarie to enjoy a special event commemorating our bicentenary, 200 Together – An Exploration through Time.

There’ll be live entertainment, cultural and heritage displays, lots of food and market stalls and opportunities to learn more about our local Aboriginal culture. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so gather your family and friends and join me between 11am and 5pm, this Sunday, on the Town Green. Event details, map and a list of what’s at pmhc.nsw.gov.au/bicentenary.
Reclaim the Night
We live in a beautiful place and belong to a growing community. We all deserve to feel safe in our home – it’s what we’ve all worked hard to build together. Domestic violence and other forms of abuse put the lives of people in our community in danger, particularly women at risk, and it’s not on. I’m urging everyone, particularly the men in our community, to show their support, attend the Reclaim the Night event on Thursday, and pledge to saying “NO” to domestic violence. There’ll be live music and a free barbecue in the Hay Street forecourt from 6pm, and then a short march through the Port Macquarie CBD from 7pm.
