Fire and Rescue NSW Laurieton station commander Les King gave an educational talk to the kids before they went to test out the important equipment.
Les tested the children on what they should do if there is a fire, showed them the protective clothing firefighters wear and asked them what the alarm on the truck means.
An important role of a firefighter is preventative education.
Local firefighters work hard to reduce the occurrence of fires and other emergencies through education campaigns and hazard reduction strategies.
Children had a great time testing out the fire truck’s hose, sitting in the truck and trying on helmets.
Librarian Cassie Rowsell said she was grateful to the firefighters for taking time out of their day to visit the kids.
