On Monday, October 29 students, parents and staff got the opportunity to say thanks and celebrate the giving nature of grandparents everywhere.
Grandparents were welcomed to the event with an introductory assembly, which featured dance, band and choir groups.
It’s Amelia’s last year at Laurieton Public School before she starts high school in 2019.
It was special for her to have both her grandmother Helen Lewis and great grandmother Betty Bradley at the event on Monday.
The children invited their loved ones into their classrooms where they proudly showed off their work, demonstrated the latest technology and got help to complete particular activities.
Activities were followed by a barbecue lunch for all attendees.
Grandparents Day was launched in 2011 by the NSW Government as an annual initiative to recognise the unique role that grandparents play in our communities.
They are custodians of individual and cultural memories and providers of care, love and guidance to their children and grandchildren under the auspices of Council on the Ageing NSW.
