PEOPLE were left in shock and a driver escaped serious injury after the car he was in smashed into a shopfront at Laurieton on Friday.

The accident occurred at 12 noon when the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the front of the OCTEC office in Bold Street.
The driver was trapped for a short time but released without injury. The driver and staff were left in shock.
Laurieton Fire Brigade attended as vehicle began to emit smoke.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said two trucks attended, one person from inside the building and another on the street were treated by paramedics.
The vehicle came to a halt inside the business leaving a trail of damage behind it.
Fire crews remained on scene to clean up debris and ensure the structural integrity of the building.
