There’s plenty of locals in our region who have done extraordinary things, have great stories to tell and epitomise what it means to be Australian.
If you know someone who goes above and beyond for others and want to celebrate their contribution, then I encourage you to nominate them for a 2019 Port Macquarie-Hastings Australia Day Award.
The award categories include the Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year and Community Group of Year.
C’mon Aussies, nominate a local hero today as time is running out.
Nominations close on Friday, November 30. The process is easy, just go to pmhc.nsw.gov.au/australiaday.
New residents’ guide
We all know our region is growing, with lots of people choosing to come and live in one of the best places in Australia.
When arriving in a new region it can be exciting and challenging all at the same time, with so much to learn about the area, where things are located and how to access local services.
To help new residents find their feet and settle in, council has created a Residents’ Guide that provides information on how to access a range of community services, and the many things council provides on behalf of our community.
From where our waste management facilities are located, to how to get started with a new development and everything in between.
This new guide is a great tool that can also be used by long time residents at home for their own use and to provide for visiting relatives and friends.
To check out the guide visit pmhc.nsw.gov.au/new-residents-guide or pick up a copy at one of our offices in Wauchope, Laurieton or Port Macquarie.
