Adding greenery is an instant way to make everything look fresh. There are endless options, from hanging ceiling pots to installing a vertical garden (if you have a generous budget). It can also be as simple as upgrading your pots to some funky baskets for your outdoor area.

2. Invest in new accessories

Does your entertaining area need a bit of a spruce up? Spend some time cleaning up and applying a new coat of paint or lacquer to your deck for a fresh look. You can also look at up-doing or revisiting your outdoor furniture, as it can really make a difference to how new it appears. Some well-placed accessories such as outdoor cushions on a bench seat can also really liven an area for summer. Bright fairy lights will also bring out those summer vibes and set the atmosphere.

3. Brighten and lighten

Summer is all about enjoying the warm weather and spending time with family and friends. Why not consider switching out some of your darker or neutral tones for some vibrant colours or patterns? This could be as simple as switching out some weatherproof cushions, or even using some more colourful table top items on your outdoor table.

4. Maintenance

Dedicate some time towards the maintenance of your home as it will make all the difference in how it is presented throughout the summer break. Make sure you clean the windows to let the light in and brighten up the space, and fix any damaged flyscreens. If you have a pool, make sure you spend time getting it all ready, and make sure all your garden maintenance tools are ready to go.

5. Get organised

With the summer break fast approaching, now is the perfect time to get organised and start cleaning out and decluttering your shed and storage space, as well as stocking up on items for entertaining in the summer months – there’s nothing worse than an impromptu gathering and discovering there's no gas for the barbecue.
