P!nk’s album Beautiful Trauma debuted at No.1 in the charts, and with sold out tours each time she lands in Australia, it is a brave person who takes the stage to perform a tribute to the rock diva.

Mt Isa born Kim Boath is the voice of P!nk in the Raise Your Glass tribute after originally saying no way to the agent who approached her to put the show together.
“There was another one [P!nk tribute] around and I said no. But he hounded me and it took about four months for me to decide. I wanted to do it justice,” Boath says.
She and her husband Grant put together a talented team of musicians and back-up singers and they have been rocking it ever since.
“It’s been an evolution,” Boath says.
She is self taught and says: “I’ve had some vocal lessons, but I had a family quite early and there wasn’t an opportunity for me to pursue music”.
Like many performers, her love of music began with singing in choirs, the high school rock band and “any given opportunity for karaoke”.
“I still struggle with the concept [performing on stage], thinking ‘are you sure I’m good enough’.”
Now married for more than 26 years and with a grown family together, she and Grant left their former careers behind to devote their futures to music full time.
The band members are consummate professionals, all with international touring experience and in demand for other gigs. “We have a couple of teams we can call on when someone has other commitments. There are six of us on stage – Jim Cowling on drums, Chris Goodrich on lead guitar, Grant on bass guitar, and Asabi Goodman backing vocals and Emily.”
P!ink might have staged more than 58 sell out shows in Australia, but many fans either can’t afford the admission or don’t manage to snare the hot tickets, so Raise Your Glass is a great alternative.
The group has toured extensively in Queensland since 2015, with occasional trips to northern NSW. “Grant is a techie and put together an awesome light show, and we have the costumes. We give everybody a mini taste. It’s as authentic as we can be, but downscaled.”
This show features non-stop action with drop screens and video, about 27 hits, including What About Us, in a two and a half hour show, but no acrobatics. “We prefer to keep our feet on the ground,” says Boath.
