The Under 14 Girls Team was undefeated at the Australian Futsal Association’s Australasian Champions of Champions Tournament at Brisbane. The event was on November 23-25.
The team won seven of their eight games and drew in one.
Their coach Rodney Rowe said for the past two years the team has been undefeated in all competitions.
Mr Rowe said only the best school teams from Australia and New Zealand were invited to the elite tournament at Brisbane.
Camden Haven High School had teams in both the under 12 boys and the under 14 girls divisions.
Six students from Camden Haven High School were selected in the All Stars national team and will go on to compete in Brazil, United Kingdom, and Spain.
The U14 Girls Team players Mya Wilson, Erin Gunton and Chelsea Hall will represent Australia in the national team in 2019. The girls will tour Brazil and the UK.
Mya Wilson was chosen as the best goal keeper, after conceding only nine during the Brisbane tournament.
“I’m so excited,” said Mya.
Chelsea Hall was named as the lead goal scorer in the tournament, after kicking 13 balls through the net.
“It’s going to be really tough but we’ll try our best and see how we go,” said Chelsea.
Three players from the Under 12 Boys Team were selected in the national team to play in Spain in 2019.
Tobias Lee, William Navan and Charlie Forster were chosen to represent Australia.
“The competition will be incredible, I’ll have to work as hard as I possibly can,” said Will.
Mr Rowe said the school is extremely proud of all the players and their achievements.
“The selectors and organisers at the tournament in Brisbane commented on the sportsmanship of both teams,” he said.
